Chris Bosh for Chris Paul? Not likely, but still fun to ruminate about

Would either the Miami Heat or New Orleans Hornets be interested in a straight up swap of super stars Chris Bosh for Chris Paul, plus the obligatory draft picks?

I don't think for a second the Hornets have any intentions of going after Chris Bosh, but would they change their mind if they realized that Chris Paul had no longer had his heart set on remaining in New Orleans.

As fans, we all think these super stars are robots, but if their hearts aren't in it 100%, then it's really in the franchise best interest in get back the best talent possible instead of a body going at it 90%. We all criticize LeBron for his sub par game 5 performance, but who knows what was going on in the locker room that day before the game? So rather than getting the game 5 Lebron version of Chris Paul for the next 164 regular season games plus zero playoff appearances, why not get something back before he bolts?

Chris Bosh is only 26 and is signed through 2014. You're basically trading one disgruntled star for another, so it seems like there are few reasons if any for the Hornets to be interested. Bosh would be livid if they sent him to the Hornets. They would have to send him to a third team, and that would be another blog post all together.

However, in my fantasy world, say the two franchises had motives to get this done, would the Miami Heat be that much better with Paul or with Bosh?

First of all, both franchises would need to wait until Dec. 15 to pull of this deal because the NBA prevents teams from trading their free agents signed during the off-season until Dec. 15.

So the dynamic of the Heat changes completely. Their weakest position is probably the point guard with its lack of depth, but with Chris Paul, the 1 position becomes their strength. However, what they gain in Paul they lose in Bosh and the power forward position. Haslem would be promoted to the starting lineup and be expected to log 30-35 minutes a night. Juwan "a nugget" Howard and Jamal Magliore would have to share the remaining 13-18 minutes backing up Haslem. So the question is, are the Heat better with Bosh/Haslem and Chalmers/Arroyo or Haslem/Howard and Paul/Chalmers.

It seems like the Heat would gain more with Paul in the lineup instead of Bosh because it allows the Heat to go small ball with Paul/Wade/Miller/LeBron/Haslem in times when it benefits them. As it stands with Bosh, the Heat are going to find it tough to get quality minutes for Haslem at the 4 because Bosh will probably with 35 minutes. Unless, Haslem can slide into the 5 and eat up minutes there while Bosh in on the court is something that I'm curious about how its going to play out.

Why don't Megadeth hire a new lead singer?

Man, watching Dave Mustaine trying to hit the high notes is damn near painful. Mustaine looks like he is about to pass out whenever he is signing the higher melodies. I wonder if Dave Mustaine has ever considered hiring a lead singer for Megadeth so that he can just concentrate on the lead guitar.

Mustaine's virtuosity on the guitar is evident on his intricate guitar solos and rhythm guitar parts, such as his guitar work on the complicated Hangar 18. Watching Mustaine and the new lead guitarist Chris Broderick battle back and forth is quite a treat. While Chris is amazing and phenomenal on the guitar, he is not on the level of Mustaine. When Mustaine solos, he does it effortlessly and with the most perfect phrasings of each note.

I really like the idea of hiring a lead singer because Megadeth would automatically become one of the top metal bands right now. Musically, nobody can touch them, with two of the best metal lead guitarists on the planet. However, vocally, Mustaine's voice is gone, which really hurts their music. If you add a top vocalist that can hit the high notes, wow, Megadeth could really put on a top notch performance. I'm a huge Megadeth fan and even I had a tough time sitting through the Sonisphere set.

What if Dan Gilbert knew about Delonte West and Lebron's Mom?

Everybody is killing LeBron for not returning Dan Gilbert's calls after the season ended. Maybe LeBron had a very good reason for not wanting to talk to Dan Gilbert because he had something personal against him.

After the Cavs got ousted by the Celtics, there were wild rumors that Delonte West and LeBron's mom Gloria James were having an affair. What if Gilbert knew about their liaison but didn't do anything about it. If Gilbert knew about this before LeBron, and he didn't trade West, release West, or put him on the inactive list, then it becomes easier to see if from LeBron's perspective.

I have no source or anybody in the know tell me that this to be true. I'm purely speculating, and I'm not trying to defend LeBron. I'm one of the few people that really don't care one way or another about LeBron. I'm neither overly negative, nor am I overly positive.

Thunder in Six over Lakers

You must think I must be some kind of lunatic for picking the completely playoff untested Thunder over the Lakers, in six games no less. Am I just saying this to get attention? No, only two people read my blog so I'm definitely not out to get any attention.

It became apparent to me that the Lakers are really out matched in this series. Bynum is not 100%, and while Gasol looked good in the last ten games, the Lakers went 4-6 down the stretch with a good Gasol.

We know Kobe is not feeling close to 100%. It's a shame because he could single handedly make the Lakers serious title contenders, but he's broken.

Do I think the Lakers will jump out to a 30-8 lead in the first quarter on Sunday at Staples? Absolutely. But the Thunder will come back and make it a game.

The Thunder are +8.5 underdogs in Game 1 and I feel pretty good about them covering their spreads the majority of games in this series. Even if they get swept, I see them going 3-1 against the spread.

The Thunder pick is largely based on the Lakers inability to guard younger, quicker teams. Let's face it, the Lakers are an old group of 30 year olds, not to mention 35 over the hiller Derek Fisher. It's going to be tough running around screens for 40 minutes chasing Durant, and Westbrook.

OKC forward Jeff Green is the classic tweener. Too small to be a true 4, but also too slow to be a true 3. Green is 3.5 and is only effective if he is hitting his threes or long twos. He's going to be guarded by Gasol, and Green will draw Gasol away from the paint, and away from defensive rebounds.

The Bynum vs. Krstic/Collison/Ibaka three headed monster is an interesting match-up. Bynum's agility coming back from injury will make a huge difference. When healthy, Bynym gets lob passes for easy twos at least four times a game.

But if you break down the other matchups, 1 through 3, it's a no brainer. I say the Kobe vs. Sefolosha matchup could very well turn into a draw. Sefolosha's defense is so good, he could get Kobe into a 6-21 shooting night. And forget about the Westbrook/Durant combo. The Lakers have nobody on their end to match up with those guys.

If Kobe was healthy, he should/would guard Durant in crunch time. With his ailing finger/knee/back/ankle injuries, he'll probably just stick to guarding Sefolosha and making at least two dangerous steal attempts that backfire and lead to easy OKC buckets.

Ron Ron is broken down. He's had 6 really good games all season, and the others have been blah. He might draw a key technical here and there to get into Durant's head, so I'll give him some credit for that.

We'll have to see how composed Durant turns out to be. He's obviously the key factor in this series. He might average a ridiculous 33 ppg in this series, and if he does, I really see the Thunder taking it against the Lakers.

Deep down, I think Phil is hurt by all the talk about his hefty 12 million a year deal with LA. To his credit, Phil has won championships under greater duress. I feel he might be taking OKC for granted, given his incredible resume, and his trust in veteran players.

Twenty years ago, nobody knew about Phil Jackson outside of Chicago. OKC coach Scott Brooks might have a shot at Phil's ten rings if he keeps his job in OKC. Not saying Brooks is going to win all ten in OKC, let's get real, but I'm just saying he has a shot to get more than three if he is truly a great coach.

End of WFAN.com online streaming in Canada?

Today became a sad day for me after reading the following error message:
"We're sorry. CBS Radio is unavailable from your current location."
while trying to log on to WFAN.com's online streaming feed.

What am I going to do now that I can't listen to WFAN? I hope CBS changes this soon because they are no longer going to get callers from all around the world.

Is Steve Phillips really a sex addict?

I have trouble believing Steve Phillips (pt 1) when he says he is a sex addict, but that might just be me (pt 2), who am I to judge (pt 3). He was on WFAN today for three plus hours desperately trying to convince us that he is a sex addict, and that's a big part of why he cheated on his wife repeatedly. Although, he also admits that he was the one that caused all these life problems he is having, so you know, the sex addiction he just throws out the window. I mean, if I really were a real sex addict I suppose I would blame it on my addiction. I'd say, hey everyone in my family, from my dad to my grandfather, great grandfather, all the way to the original Phillips, yup we were all sex addicts. And so I have a high chance of being one. So are all my brothers, they are sex addicts too, you know?

And then I would say, part of being a sex addict, is that you always chase the girl, because you're a horny old guy. But he doesn't actually say that, so you're like, what is it? Was is the stupid sex addiction or you? And since Steve keeps blaming it on himself and not the sex addiction, I keep wondering why he would ever bring it up in the first place.

And then you had these callers calling thanking him for admitting his addiction, and some of these callers had alcohol addiction, drugs, all kinds of shit, and Steve Phillips is saying, yeah I understand, my problem is that I need to get laid all the time, because that's what my addiction makes me do, you know what I am saying?

NFL Picks: Super Bowl

Here we go, end of the NFL season. I went 2-4 in my playoff picks, so I'm due for a win here.

I really like the Saints +5. I don't think the Colts are that great, and they haven't faced a high powered offense in the playoffs yet. I believe in Brees having a huge game.

NFL Picks: Conference Championships

My playoff record is 1-3, losing twice betting against the Jets. I'm definitely due for a 2-0 week, so I'm feeling pretty confident about both picks.

In the AFC, I'm taking the Colts -8 against the Jets. This is finally the week that the Jets' Cinderella season comes to an end. The Jets got real lucky last week when San Diego missed three FGs. I see this game as a complete blowout, something like 31-3.

Colts -8 over the Jets

For the NFC, again, I see a mega blowout. Farve is going to throw for 3 int, a couple of which are going to get returned for Saints TDs. Final score, 38-10.

Saints -3.5 over the Vikings

NFL Picks: Divisional Playoffs

Last week, I went 0-2, so chances are I'm going to go 2-0 this week. Positive thinking, people.

I picked against the Jets last week, and lost that bet. This week, I'm betting against them again. I don't see the Jets coming closer than 10 points in this game. They beat up a reeling Bengals team last week, and actually wasn't as dominant as the final score made it appear. The Bengals missed a couple of easy FGs that would have made the game much closer.

Chargers -7 over the Jets

The second pick, I'm not as sure about. I'm picking the Saints over the Cardinals. I don't think the Cardinals defense is any good, and the Saints offense was the best this season until week 14. I see this game as a blowout in favor of the Saints.

Saints -7 over the Cardinals.

NFL Picks: Wild Card Playoffs

I'm feeling pretty good about the AFC games. I have no idea what's going to happen with the NFC games. The NFC lines are true, and so I would stay away from them.

I'm pretty confident about the Bengals -2.5 over the Jets. The Jets were handed two gimmies, so I wouldn't take their late season two game winning streak very seriously. The Bengals have been a tough group all season, until the end. They've dealt with tragedy all season, and have battled through it all.

Bengals -2.5 over the Jets.

The other AFC game is a tricky one. I'm taking Pats -3.5 over the Ravens, but I'm not too confident about this one. Bellichick has done some strange things recently and I believe Brady is breaking down. I actually don't think the Pats will miss Welker's presence for one game because they have Randy Moss. I expect a huge game from Moss, at least two TDs. It's going to be a close game, but I see the Pats winning by at least 4.

Patriots -3.5 over the Ravens.
