What I would change about the NBA

Season's too long. They got to cut it to 62. Has a nice symmetry about it. This way, you can also start the play-offs in early April, basically right after the Final Four.

I'd also change the play-off format. It's too long and repetitive. You only need to go 7 game series in the the big time conference or nba finals. That's it.

But rather then scale back to 5 game series in round 1 and 2, I would do something even more drastic than that.

Cut the number of teams to 6 per conference.

And then what I would do with the odd number of teams is to do a round robin tournament (not even sure if that's the correct term for what I'm talking about). Each of the six remaining teams would play each other once at the home site of the conference winner. Kinda like the Olympic round 1 style. Or have two neutral sites, hosted by the 1 or 2s of the conference. Nope, just one site would be better, easier access to teams. Play this over one and a half week. Basically, one game every other 2 days. A total of 5 games per team. Or the number 1 seed would have a guaranteed victory 1, meaning they only play a total of 4 games (As in they would have a hell of a chance of making it in outside of a major upsets in their 4 games).

The top four teams to emerge would then go to 7 game series to determine the eventual winner.
